A common symbol across innumerable cultures, the heart is known as a manawa in the Maori language. Most such designs revolve around the heart-form being perfectly symmetrical; but that's not the way our carver prefers to roll. The asymmetric heart has a more dynamic, less "industrial product" kind of feel - as this excellent example in a lovely piece of Akatore rhodonite shows off so well.
Measuring in at 44mm long and 37mm deep, this pendant sports an even mid-pink tone with subtle patterning complimented by bold, lightning-like splashes of striking black and a little bit of ochre that adds just the right amount of contrast to the piece. An elegant and understated piece that can suit any kind of outfit, and yet which is robust enough to easily deal with the trials of everyday wear.
