A stone demonstrating a wide range of pink, purple and earth tones, rhodonite is found in a few places along New Zealand's West Coast, including the Arahura and Hokitika Rivers. This material was found in Akatore near Dunedin, and demonstrates complex patterning and a broad and earthy colour palette. With a base of soft pink accented by a mix of earth-brown and purple patching, it's definitely a piece to catch the eye.
