Commonly referred to as the Grandmother Stone, rhodonite is found in a wide number of places around the world, and has long been prized for its pale to vivid pink to purple and earthy tones. It's a favourite of a lot of inexpensive antique jewellery, particularly in pieces from the Victorian era.
This elegant spooned pendant is carved from a piece of Akatore rhodonite that shows not only strong pink hues, but also slender purple veining and pale earthy contrast tones. Measuring in at 78mm long and 18mm wide at its widest point, it's designed to settle comfortably into the cleft of its wearer's chest. A lovely piece for everyday wear.
