Common symbols with a wide range of meanings to different groups, anchors invoke images of setting down roots, trustworthiness and of course a broad selection of maritime themes. This particular anchor form is carved from a beautiful piece of pale inanga jade taken from the Arahura River, and measures in at 47mm long and 42mm wide, with a thickness of 7mm at its widest point (the anchor-scutes).
