Carved from the edge of a complex piece of Marsden flower jade with patches of the deep reddish brown hue known as totoweka, this piece has managed to capture the deep greens and golds of Marsden flower jades while also pulling off the inclusion of a large amount of that excellent totoweka red-brown. A small and stylised piece, it's a matau or hook pendant with somewhat more of an African styling than one usually sees on the market.
 
Measuring in at 63mm long and 19mm wide, this piece is suitably thick to be robust enough for everyday wear, yet possesses a striking colour range with a strong palette that really makes it stand out and draw attention. An excellent piece for the wearer who wants something of a smallish size yet striking character.
