Bearing a bright-green tone offset with fine pepper-like specks of black iron-bearing minerals, the jade known as kohuwai or water-mos jade is a nephrite jade found frequently in the South Westland jade fields of New Zealand's West Coast. This piece has been carved into a simplified niho mako or shark's tooth form that shows off its strong translucency and rich green hues to great effect.

Measuring in at 61mm long and 34mm wide, this is an inexpensive piece suited to everyday wear, and a great first piece for the rough-and-tumble child wearer.
