A classic Maori pendant form, the kuru kapeu was originally made as a teething-hook. As such, it was worn by those who cared for young children, so that they'd have something to bite that they couldn't damage and that in turn couldn't damage them. However, its long, slender form also allowed it to show off the colours and translucency of wonderful pieces of jade - so it quickly became a general pendant form worn by all. This kuru kapeu is crafted from a truly spectacular piece of Indonesian nephrite jade that's vivdly patterned.

Measuring in at 77mm long and a mere 10mm wide at its widest point, this is an extremely lightweight and striking piece of jewellery suited to pretty much any wearer and any outfit.
