Nephrite jade is an incredibly varied stone, with examples showing a tremendous range of colours and patterns. Some specimens take on a distinctly wood-like long grain, while others are utterly featureless, glassily translucent or vividly banded across their body. This beautiful piece of inanga shows a lovely pale-green base tone with that wood-like grain effect throughout, and has been shaped into a simple arero (taiaha spear-point) form that can sit nicely as a sculptural piece or be worn as a very commanding pendant.

Measuring in at 143mm long and 48mm wide at its widest point, this is an extraordinarily large piece for jewellery wear. But oh, what a striking one!
