Among the more unusual yet underappreciated colours in nephrite jade, grey jades such as this piece possess a versatility of wear that very few other examples of the stone can match, owing to the tendency of grey to complement pretty much any other colour with which they're paired. This grey jade piece was carved from a pebble found in the Hokitika River - a stone showing such a complexity of structure and form that there teally was no better way to treat it than to show off that complexity in the simple form of the polished pebble itself.
Measuring in at 70mm long and 41mm wide at its widest point, this piece shows complex swirls and cloud patterns that complement the grey base tone. Its thickness and size make it an excellent piece for the lover of the large.
