Flowe jades are examples of nephrite jade that carry the colours and patterns of the stone's rind into the body of the jade. The most famous examples come from the Marsden area; but in truth, flower jades are found throughout the West Coast's rivers. This particular example comes from the Hokitika River, and has been carved into the form of a simple, assymmetric heart.
Measuring in at 46mm long and 42mm wide at its widest point, this is a delicate and lightweight piece suited to the wear of even the most petite wearer. It showcases cloud-like patterns with an ochre tint on a background hue of mid-greens, and is a great piece for everyday wear.
