Sometimes, a stone is so pleasing just as it is that it seems somewhat a shame to try and impose a form upon it. This piece is one of those stones - a beautifullly frosty, pale blue nephrite jade with a remarkably cloud-like patterning throughout. Carved from a jade pebble found in the Hokitika River, this is one of two pendants of the same type, furnished from the same stone.

Measuring in at 50mm long and 52mm wide, this is a simple pebble-form pendant that shows just enough translucency to add a sense of three-dimensionality to its cloud-like patterning. Though soft in tone. its vivid markings make it an excellent piece to accompany darker-hued formal wear - against which it offers a striking and pleasing contrast.
