The roimata or teardrop form is an extremely common artistic style of pendant worn around much of the world, and was much used by the Maori from the earliest times. This example of that form has been carved in the kind of pointed yet rounder-girthed form seen in a great many traditional fishing lures used by the Maori - many of which became pendants when  their active life was done. It's a neat, double-pointed pendant carved with an upper groove to accommodate its cord, allowing it to line up neatly against its own attachment knot.

Measuring in at 98mm long yet a mere 18mm wide at its widest point, this is a pronounced yet lightweight pendant whose high gloss and sharp lines make it an excellent accompaniment to formal or professional wear. And yet, its rounder girth also gives it a toughness and strength that make it an excellent choice for an everyday piece as well.
