Often known as the Viking Compass, the Vegvisir is perhaps more accurately referred to as the Nordic Wayfinder. It's a rune taken from the Icelandic occult text known as the Huld manuscript, and it symbolises a will to always find one's way safely home. For this reason, it's a very popular good-luck charm amongst travellers from Nordic countries such as Iceland or Sweden.
A large pendant for the bigger wearer, this piece measures in at 73mm round, and features a himotoshi or 'hidden hole' - which allows the surface of the rune to remain unpierced. The rune has been hand-etched into the polished pendant's surface, allowing the rough internal texture of the etching to provide a vivid contrast to the polished face that allows the rune to stand out and be recognised. A great piece for anyone wishing for a safe journey - or simply a safe return home from a day at work!
