Representing the craftsman, artist or provider of the household, the toki or adze blade is a classical Maori form of pendant that was once far more - as such blades were the means by which Maori performed most of their whakairo or traditional wood-carving techniques. This toki has been carved to a traditional form from a piece of kokopu or trout jade found in the Marsden area, and showcases the pleasing pale golden tones that are often found in the outer, rind portions of jade boulders.

Measuring in at 78mm long and 38mm wide, this is a piece of a median size that most wearers find exceptionally comfortable. An excellent gift piece for someone coming of age or preparing to set up their own home, it's a piece that fits very well with everyday wear.
