Falling into the broad category of inanga or whitebait jade, this small piece showcases the rich array of patterns that can occur in jades found in New Zealand. The raw material from which it was made was found in the Big Bay area, and the base boulder showed a remarkable array of colours and patterns of which this disc has captured only a small portion.
 
Measuring in at 37mm diameter, this piece is both slender and highly translucent, making it suitable for the wear of even a small child due to its light weight. Of course, a small child isn't as likely to appreciate its complexity and glow in natural light; so it's just as suitable for a smaller adult wearer.
