Nephrite jade is a complex material composed of a mix of minerals, with the bulk of its substance being composed of tremolite and actinolite. Occasionally, those materials only partially blend together towards the formation of a true jade - and in such cases, the result is a stone which polishes much like a lower-grade jade, but shows off fine slays of the crystals of these formational minerals. This piece is an excellent example of that phenomenon, and was carved from a piece found on the Toaroha River.

Measuring in at 68mm long and 54mm wide, the muted palette of this piece makes it great for discrete and everyday wear. Its intricate crystal bursts make it a fascinating piece for anyone enthused by crystal specimens, as they can be easily seen when the piece is to hand.
